Literature Text

The decay began long ago, when you were young.
Your bones became weak and brittle with the agony of the world on your shoulders.
Your skin wove itself a thicker design for protection,
but the words still cut through.
So your heart became solid. A rock in your chest.
Your tears froze to your eyelids, and gave you an icy stare.
Your chin and your shoulders would never fall.
With great effort, you held them up, suspended on wires.
You were indestructable, or so it would seem.
But after all of the suspense, you fell before their gaping  mouths.
They've been waiting for this. For every rope to snap.
The weapon is in your coffin, they buried it with you.
You died immortal, an unsinkable ship.
But herein lies the iceburg.
Your cold heart handed you nothing but your demise,
And here you lay, silent and still as stone,
Nothing but a heavy descent into the ground.
Yep.

Lots of vivid imagery here. Such a facility you have with words . . .
